The 31st annual Strathalbyn Rotary Club Great Duck Race will be held in the magnificent Soldiers Memorial Gardens on the Angas River in the heart of Strathalbyn.
The Strathalbyn Rotary Club began the Great Duck Race in 1990 and continues to organise it every year. The race sees 2,500 yellow ducks released from the starting gates, to race to the finish line for a major prize of $1,000, second prize of $300 and $200 for third place.
The event starts at 10am, with stalls, food and fun for all the family.
The Giant “Moby Duck” keeps a watch over all the ducklings whilst “Cluck a Duck” will be waddling around at the park on the day, saying “quack” which is duck for hello.
Duck race tickets are on sale on the day. If your ticket matches a winning duck’s number in the race, you win. There is also a Corporate Duck race and the Best Dressed Duck competition.
The Steam Ranger train arrives in Strathalbyn especially for the Duck Race, leaving Mt Barker and returning after the race.
